I hate all teeth right now
I hate the dentist more every time I go. I went on Thursday to start the process of getting a crown for my freshly (apparently) cracked tooth. They tell me the crown should hold the crack together, and then it won't hurt any more. As soon as the numbness wore off, I found that it sure did still hurt. In fact it actually hurts more now than it fucking did before. I just paid $450 for my tooth to hurt more than before. Now I'm scheduled for a root canal Thursday. I'm so sick of this. I just want to be able to eat normally, it seems reasonable.

Delivery. Or not.
Donald and I were going to be lazy and order wings from Pizza Hut last night. Very lazy. Donald called at 7:30, and was put on hold for about 5 minutes. He comes into the living room at 7:40 and tells me that the wings will be here at 9pm, and the drivers only carry $3 in change. What the fuck? We're hungry right now! I expect a half hour wait for delivery, but not an hour twenty. Only $3 in change? Our total was $13, so I'm supposed to tip $7?!? No way. Donald called back to cancel the order, which took another 5 minutes on hold as they transferred him to customer service. I got in the car and drove to Sonic. Sonic took a kind of long time, but I was still back in my house and eating at 8:30. What a ridiculous experience. :P

Another closing
Today we close 2 Pianos. Whew! It's been a long time since I first dragged my behind downtown to Copaken in January. After we strike this show, I proabably won't set foot in Copaken until the middle of September. It feels a little weird, since I've been there 6 days a week for such a long time. Now I REALLY need to come up with something to do. I've been bored during the day all week. I should make a list of stuff I want to get done.

Breakfast pt 2
Monday's breakfast food was only a tease. It only made me want more. So I made waffles for lunch yesterday. They were tasty, but I still want bacon.
As I was making the waffles, I decided to make cookies too. It was my turn to make something to take to the theater. I went with chocolate chip cookies because it's the only cookie I actually know how to make, and I had all the ingredients. You may think that shouldn't be a factor, but I don't always have eggs. I did half the batch with milk chocolate candy coated bits and the other half with semi-sweet and peanut butter chips.
I dropped my dough by rounded spoonfuls onto my ungreased cookie sheet, popped 'em in the oven, and waited. And waited. And waited. They took FOREVER to bake! I checked the temperature to see if I'd set it wrong. Nope, 375ยบ. I looked at the bottom of the cookies, not brown yet. The directions say 8-10 minutes, and I must have baked them at least 15. They never did get as brown as I thought they should. In my previous experience, I'd have to keep a very close eye on the cookies to keep them from burning, and I'd usually end up with the first tray burnt anyway. I've never had to put them back in for several more minutes! I gave up on brownness and went on with the baking. I ended up with 3 1/2 dozen cookies. I like to make them small so you can eat more than one. Everyone said they were yummy, so it was a success. I still don't know what was up with the baking though.

I wish I had some bacon right now
It rained all day yesterday. It was sunny the day before, and it'll be sunny today, but on my actual "day off" it rained all day. Well screw you, rain! I went to the grocery store anyway. That sure showed it.
Donald went to work early yesterday, so he came home early too. We decided to make scrambled eggs and potatoes o'brian and sausage for dinner. Our lovely "new" nonstick pan works great for such things. The problem was the sausage. It had been in the freezer for awhile. It looked normal and smelled just fine while cooking. Then when you took a bite, expecting sausagey goodness, it tasted kinda like plastic and cardboard and generally tasted the way the freezer smells. So damn disappointing. The eggs and potatoes were fine, if a little dull. I still need to figure out a way to make them tastier. We got done eating around 7, and watched Hell's Kitchen at 8. They cooked breakfast food during the show, which made Donald and I hungry for pancakes and bacon. We suffered through it and did not go to Chubby's. but we really wanted to.

The whole of last week
I ran around quite a bit last week, and it ended in the Weekend of Mostly Wishing I Didn't Have To Be At the Theater Because I Wanted To Be Somewhere Else.
Tuesday through Friday I helped load in the Quixotic show in the morning and early afternoon. It was sometimes fun, sometimes exhausting, and always barely organized. The show was actually in a theater this year! They still had to bring in almost everything, including a truss system. The main benefits of the theater were A/C, proper electricity, and indoor plumbing. You take this stuff for granted, but when it isn't there it's pretty awful. I wasn't as useful as I wanted to be. I want to stay involved with this company because they put in a really great show. I'm just not good at trouble shooting masses of weird equipment that's been cobbled together. The worst part about working on the show was that I didn't get to see it, since I had to be at the Rep Friday night. Sigh.
Friday night my aunts got into town, to be here for about a day on their way back to Colorado. I got to see them for a grand total of about an hour Saturday morning before I headed to the Rep. That sucks, but I'll get to see them again at the wedding in August.
In between shows we all went to Jerusalem Cafe. There was me, the Stage Manager, Sound Op, both onstage crew people, and half the cast, which is only one guy. Donald met us there, which was nice. The service was sloow, but we had a long enough break to get ice cream after dinner and still get back to the theater a bit early. The ice cream was DELICIOUS.
After the show I expected Joe would be here, since he came up this weekend to finally get rid of all his army stuff. His plane was delayed so he got in in the middle of the night. In the morning I made some coffee and watched the "What's in the Bag" show as Joe sorted through all the stuff. There were many brown t-shirts. We planned to get dinner before Joe's flight back, but it didn't work out. There's so much more space now that all that stuff is gone!
Also last week, Donald and I signed up for Netflix. Tuesday we watched The Fountain. It was visually pretty spectacular, but the plot was confusing and slow at times. Last night we watched 2046, which was also pretty to look at, somewhat confusing, and in Chinese. I think our next movie will have to be in English, and pretty straightforward. :P Who wants to be our netflix friend?

what I watched on Sunday
We watched Pan's Labyrinth yesterday with Mike. I enjoyed it, but not so much that I understand all the rave reviews. I liked the look of the whole thing, and I thought the story was very interesting and original. But it was kinda slow moving, and the Captain character was really hateful. (I know, that's the point, but still.) The ending was pretty depressing too. I'm glad I watched it though.
I watched the Tonys last night too. You'd think being in theatre, that this would be an important broadcast for me to watch. You'd be incorrect. I don't know who 90% of the people on the stage were, and didn't see any of the plays. I fast forwarded through a lot, because I just didn't care what they were saying. At least when you watch the Oscars, you had a chance to see the nominated movies. (Even though I rarely see any of the Best Picture nominees.) You'd have to spend a LOT of money and effort to see even a few of the Tony nominated plays. It's a weird thing that Broadway shows, the supposed center of the theatre universe, are COMPLETELY inaccessible to the majority of Americans. Why even bother watching the Tonys?

wedding thoughts
Jim's post got me thinkin' about family weddings and the obligations that go with them.
I've got a wedding coming up for my (younger than me) cousin, who didn't come to our wedding. This cousin is my dad's brother's son, and his 2 sisters did attend our wedding. I'm assuming he was with his folks, who also didn't go to my wedding. They had a graduation to go to that weekend, for my aunt's niece (on her side of the family, so not related to me.) Now on one hand I'm not offended that they didn't attend. We aren't super close or anything. On the other hand, I think that "wedding" trumps "graduation". And I have to consider, whether or not it's true, that my uncle has never gotten along well with my dad, and did that have anything to do with it? My dad goes up to the farm pretty frequently these days to spend time with Grandma and help her out with stuff since Grandpa died last year. When he sees his brother, and tries to get along, I pretty much always hear a story about something mean Uncle said. Of course this is all second hand and from my dad's point of view. But my dad is a pretty nice guy, who likes to help people out, and my Uncle is a cranky sumbitch at best. All of this naturally upsets my grandma.
An illustrative story: One time when my dad was at the farm, he was helping Uncle and Cousin (the one who's getting married) work on a house that Cousin was going to move into. I'm sure that they didn't ask him to help, he just did. They were working on plumbing, installing a toilet I think. Uncle was tightening something, and my dad suggested that overtightening would be a bad thing. Cousin said something along the lines of "what would you know about it?" probably not in a mean way. My dad replied that he was a Master plumber for 20 years, and did know a little bit about plumbing. Maybe this story isn't illustrative at all, but it's an example of how my Uncle looks at my dad, and I guess his views trickle down to my cousin. My dad left the farm, moved to the city and did other stuff, so my Uncle seems to think that all he ever did was sit at a desk, and (I guess) takes offense that my dad's more involved in the farm now. Wow, what a tangent.
So there's a wedding coming up that I'm expected to attend. I'm sure there will be a registry, and I should buy a present. The cousin didn't get us a present for our wedding. I think his name was signed on the card from his folks. I can't add Donald's and my name onto my parents' card, that would just be silly. I think we'll just buy a dang present, because in the end, it isn't my cousin's fault that his dad can be a real asshole.

more shoes for me!
I won another pair of shoes on eBay last night. I like my Ecco receptors so much that I want more pairs, preferably as cheap as possible. This style is a year old now, so the internet is really my only option. This auction was going for $.99 up until yesterday afternoon. A few hours and bids later, the shoes are mine. For $24 shipped. Such a price! I'm super excited how cheap I got these. :) Now I have blue, grey, and yellow. If I get a chance to get red, I'll go for it. I'd probably buy another blue too, since that's my oldest and most worn pair.If anybody but me watched Studio 60 last night, let's discuss. In my opinion, that was a pretty lame episode. The whole brother-POW thing is a bit too much drama for this show. It would have been more appropriate on West Wing, but it just seemed out of place here. There was too much sentiment in all the story lines, and not enough humor. My eyes rolled up into my head a few times all on their own. At least the episodes they aired before it was cancelled were better than this one.

A few snapshots from the wedding
Wedding trip
As everyone on the blog roster has said, the wedding was nice and we all had a good time. :) I'll just say that I-70 sucks when there's a wreck, and people ought to drive more carefully, dammit. And Heather gave me a quarter for my efforts. I probably don't have to delare that as income on my taxes...
