Man, am I tired. Today the shindig started at 9. I talked to people so much today that my voice is all worn out. It was a good day, I think. I got a lot of positive comments on my work. Surprisingly, a lot of people commented on Dialogues, and several people really liked Killer Joe. I got lots of compliments for the variety of work I had.
At lunch I sat at a table with John McKernon, who is the guy responisble for Lightwright. That was pretty cool. For the normal people, Lightwright is a program we use for paperwork for lighting. It's a damn good program.
By the time the reception started around 5, I was ready for a solid nap. We got out of there about 7, and we were supposed to go to Chinatown to eat again. But it seemed that the people we were with wanted to go to a bar and have a drink, so we wandered along, since Victor said we'd go eat after that. I was about to fall asleep sitting up, so we we told Victor we were going to take our stuff back to the hotel. He would give us a call when they were leaving. By the time we made it back to the hotel the trip to Chinatown had fallen apart. Donald and I rested a bit, and eventually went out to find food. Victor wanted to meet for dinner, but we were just way too tired.
We happily spent most of the evening resting. Donald said earlier that we have booked ourselves one too many days of vacation, but I don't think so. After tomorrow, our time is our own. We can relax as much as we want.

It's out of my hands, and in the van
My portfolio has been rearranged, slightly revamped, and packed up. I packed it all into handy dandy travel format today, and put it in the van the scene designers will be driving to NYC. I think it's in pretty decent shape. Either way, I'm happy to load it up and not think about it for the next few days.
Sunday Donald and I went to Target and spent some of our gift cards. We bought many useful things, and then I went to buy some nice clothes to wear in NYC. I got 2 pairs of nice pants from the clearance rack for $10 each, and a top that turned out to by 30% off. So adding that to the last shopping I did for nice clothes, I spent $60 on 4 tops and 2 pairs of pants. That's 2 whole outfits. (2 of the tops are tank tops, worn under the other tops. The other tops are low cut you see, and I'm short.) I think it was money well spent.
Monday was a light hang day, and we got done early, so I went to the art supply store to get stuff to finish getting the portfolio ready. In the evening I found out that the other 2 people showing in NYC were doing trial portfolio setups, and as usual, nobody told me. So Donald helped me haul all my stuff over there, and I set it all up. It turned out that I needed to rearrange something, so I'm very glad that I got that taken care of ahead of time.
Today I took most of the day to finish up porfolio stuff, then Donald and I had Kin Lin and met Robyn and Joe for coffee at Muddy's. It was a good time, and we actually finished a game of Phase 10 for the first time in a couple weeks. Now, time for more West Wing viewing.

not much of a maze
I dreamed we were at the zoo, or some similar outdoorsy place. Joe wanted to check out this maze thing, so we went to look at it. It wasn't much of a maze, since it started out with walls only about a foot high, and they gradually got taller to about 3 feet. Either way, we could walk on top the walls and I could see clearly that it wasn't very maze-y at all, since there were a bunch of shapes that didn't even connect. There was also a bull at the center, sitting there placidly. I was a bit concerned about the bull, as those things aren't known to be very friendly. I decided to head the other way, and fast. Joe and Robyn said the bull wouldn't bother us, but I didn't believe it and kept going. When it did start chasing us, I was already half way to the scaffold. Robyn had been closest to the bull, but she made it to the scaff in time. As Joe followed me up, I said to him, "I'm pretty sure bulls can't climb scaffolding."
How's that for the end of a dream? "I'm pretty sure bulls can't climb scaffolding." lol.

still tired
Thursday I slept until 10:30 (which wasn't nearly enough sleep,) because my mom called to ask me a question about potato salad. I couldn't really get back to sleep, so I got up. Robyn and Joe and I had lunch, then at 2 I went back to Union Station to work until 6. The crappy part was that the set was NOT loading in. We stayed until 5AM because we needed to be clear of the stage so the set could load in, and the bastards still weren't loading it in when I left at 6. That. Just. Sucks. So I worked hard and we got done the things that we needed to get done, or rather as much as we could. We didn't have nearly enough cable, so we just hung the lights but didn't circuit them. Then I got paid for my work, in happy cash monies. Then I went home to play cards with my grandma.
Today I had a meeting, then went to my sister's graduation, then took a nap, then went to the graduation picnic briefly, then went to dinner with Donald and Mike and Joe and Robyn, then got coffee.
I still haven't gotten ready for New York, and I realized that they load up the van on Tuesday. Sigh.

Oh god, so tired
Yesterday I went to Union Station at 2pm to strike Harry and/or hang lights for KCAT. We finished the strike part by 7:15, when I switched from Rep payroll to KCAT payroll after a dinner break. Then it got stupid. We were moving right along, hanging lights at a brisk pace, with 2 genies and the scaffold, until Lightbulb Changer McTakesOurLift came and took one Genie Lift away, never to be seen again.
Long story short, this was a huge plot, and it took for-ever to hang. I talked to Donald at 2:30am or so, and he sarcastically asked if we were hanging every light in the place. I was forced to reply yes, and 30 or so rental lights. So holy crap, we left at 5AM. Yes, the mf'ing sun was coming up as I drove home. It was truly ridiculous, but not nearly as bad as it could have been, since I was on the clock from 2pm to 5am, minus a half hour for lunch. I think I'm still half delirious, because I'm having trouble typing and spelling. Sigh! (dollars, yay)

Whew!
It was a great weekend, and I want to thank everybody. Especially Donald for being all Donald-like. I was so glad to see the out-of-town people, especially those that I hadn't seen in a long long time. Our families did great jobs helping us with all the details. My mom planned the hell out of this thing. It was a pretty stress-free day, all told.
So we're married! :) There were no major bumps in the process, except that we forgot the license. That was easily solved, since Joe hadn't left the house yet. He located the pretty important piece of paper, and brought it to us. We were planning the do the ceremony outside, but ended up cancelling that idea because it was just a little too cool for old people to be outside. It was snug, but I assume everyone fit comfortably for the ceremony. I wasn't really paying attention to them, after all.
Getting ready was amusing. Robyn and Denise and I got all made up and fixed our hair first. Then there were 3 men changing into tuxes while a recently arrived Joe took a shower. As the various guys came out of various doors, there was much buttoning and adjusting and straightening.
The ceremony went well, dinner was great, and everyone loved the Italian wedding cookies. Donald and I chatted with just about everybody there. It's a weird thing, to invite a hundred people to see you do something, and then you barely have time to say hello to all of them.
Monday we did a group trip to return tuxes. We also did some shopping, while the guys did some standing-around-waiting. And shopping. We ended the day with dinner, then our friends all went their seperate ways. Donald and I did a bit of laundry, watched some TV, and went to bed early.
It was a very enjoyable but long weekend. I really don't want to go back to normal life again. I always say that, but I think after this I'm justified to want to rest some! Today I've been doing laundry. The day's gone by so fast! I just heard Donald's car door out back and looked at the clock. How is it possible that it's 7:15 already?

Friday bidness
Yesterday we were planning to clean house a bit. Instead, we cleaned out Donald's car for the first time in forever. It wasn't all that dirty, but we vaccuumed quite a bit of junk out. A small amount of tidying happened, then Kevin and Denise got here, then Mike got here, so we all 5 crammed into his car for a trip to the mall for tux fetching. Our guys are going to look so handsome! After that we had just enough time to pick up Robyn's dress, then head home to meet Robyn.
Donald and I changed clothes, and we all went to rehearsal dinner. Donald looked very classy in his blue shirt and yellow tie. I was only half-assed dressed up, because I didn't think about it enough ahead of time so I just threw something on. We got to the restaurant and I was kind of annoyed because instead of one big table, there were several smaller ones. We ended up with 3 tables of 6, and one with my 2 aunts and grandma all alone. After we ate though, we got up and moved around to talk. Everyone got along and seemed to have a good time discussing what bones they'd broken and such.

a lull
The last few days have been occipied with running more errands, tidying the house, and also- most importantly- wasting time! Yes folks, I played a bit of Oblivion this week. I have leveled up a couple times, and now the random creatures I encounter in the woods are almost too much for me. Stupid crap leveling system levels the creatures along with you. The problem is, my fighting skills suck. I am awesome at Alchemy though! Sadly, that's no help when I'm being killed by a frickin bear.

And then...
This morning I took a shower and then I went and picked up my dress and then I picked up the marriage license and then I went to Costco and then I went to meet the caterer for a walk through at Simpson House and then I met with the photographer and then I went to Price Chopper and then I came home.
I'm tired.

Graduation: check

Well, I went and graduated again. The commencement was as boring as those things always are, but at least it didn't rain. I don't feel any different than before, so whatever. We got there about 11:30 to partake of the complimentary lunch. The lunch was slightly less boring than the commencement, but not by much. Hey, it was free. After the whole thing was done Mike and Robyn and Donald helped me take down my portfolio, then we met Kristin and Colin for dinner. It was nice to see them, and the food was tasty. After that we put together some tiny bouquets of flowers, until we realized that we were both bored and sleepy so we got coffee.
Yesterday Robyn and I went shopping. We went all over the mall, and bought a variety of stuff. We got back about the right time to get some dinner, then Robyn went home and Donald and I watched some TV. I finished the day by reading until I fell asleep on the couch while Donald played Jade Empire. It was a nice day.
This week I don't really have much of anything on my calendar. So it's kind of a break, and kind of not. I should work on getting ready for clambake, but all that might just wait until next week. Tomorrow I'll go pick up the marriage license, get my dress, and do a walk-through at Simpson House with the caterer.

If alchohol is liquid courage, coffee is liquid motivation.
The portfolio review went well. I think all my hard work actually showed. Not to sound arrogant, but the other students' stuff didn't look as good as mine. The faculty all complimented my choice of pictures, my layout, and the photos themselves. Other people didn't crop out useless black space, or print them big enough. I'm glad I put all the effort into it. I also got compliments on my figure drawing, scene painting, and Lower Depths project. So! Now that that's all done, I have to re-do it for the clambake in NYC, where I will have MUCH less space. (Don't ask me why it's called that, I have no idea.) Victor and I talked some today about stuff to do to get ready, and he kept telling me to bring this and this and this- but if it's anything like last year, there really isn't that much space. I guess I can take however much, and not put it up if there isn't enough room.
Here I am setting up in my corner. I got there first, so I picked the best spot. It's the first thing you see when you walk in the door.

Here's the finished setup, and visitors. (Click for very big)

I had my laptop with a slideshow on the table, and my small portfolio laid out for people to flip through. On Sunday, I sent an email to pretty much everyone "important" in KC that I could think of. So hopefully people will come by and take a look. The stuff will be set up until Friday, when there is a reception, and the scenic and costume portfolios will be on display as well, down the hall. The Person Of Some Importance dropped by yesterday for a bit, I think he was suitably impressed. I chatted him up a bit. So the whole thing went well. Then Victor bought me a very tasty steak dinner. Mmmmm.... filet...
Here's a pic of Anna cuteness. She was enjoying the view from the window as I sewed silver stuff. I put the chair there for her so she could see over the bushes and better view the feathered snacks, which she of course couldn't get at.

I bet there were cookies in there
Another theatre dream. In this one, it was during a performance, and the stage manager was upstage center, on the stage. Someone came to tell her about something, so she told everyone she needed to take a small break- 10 minutes or half an hour. Then she went off to the greenroom to deal with some business. I was thinking maybe I could deal with the business so she could keep doing the show, but she'd already gone. At another point, they were passing out mail to everybody. My mom sent me a giant envelope, like 2' X 3', which had giant papers in it that I didn't look at closely at the time. There was also a gift certificate (normal size) that was good at home depot and a bunch of other places. My grandma sent me a purple lunchbox with snacks it it. I was hoping none of them were perishable as I was opening it, and then I woke up.
