long weekend

I got spoiled the last 2 weekends by not having a show Sunday night. Sadly, this week and next week it's back to the grind of 5 show weekends. That includes Friday night. We close next Sunday, and I get a bit of time off before the next one starts. Well, not so much time off but time doing something else. At least I'll get my evenings back!

It's spring break for UMKC this week. That's terrific news on the coffeehouse front, since all the damn dorm dwellers are gone! It was wonderful to go there on Friday night and nearly have the place to ourselves. It was about 11 at the time, and ever so quiet. We're planning to go several times this week, to take advantage of the good thing while it lasts.

Wednesday's symptoms

Much like Tuesday's, only less so. Yesterday I played Oblivion pretty much all day. Today, I think I might be getting better. I felt well enough to actually get off my ass and DO something, at least. Now, this is not to be confused with when I'm not sick but play Oblivion all day. That's just lack of motivation. Today I vaccuumed, put away the X-Mas tree, (Shut up, it's small and I just didn't get around to it) made a few bead ornaments for the tree next year, sewed a patch on my jeans, made hard boiled eggs and made some tuna salad. Pretty productive, I think.

Now my free time is about over for the day, which is weird because it's 4:15. At 4:45 I'll get the car, leave at 5, meet my carpool at 5:15, to get to the theater at 5:30. The show's at 7, and I'll be home about 10. It's a really odd schedule to get used to, just because it makes me eat dinner at 4:30, or take it with me and eat at the theater after I do dimmer check. That one's a bit of a gamble, because if something goes wrong that I need to fix, I might not have time to eat. Either way, I'll be hungry when I get home.

Tuesday's symptoms

Today's symptoms include sneezing and runny nose. I'm not sure which is worse, the runny nose or the congestion. Tune in later folks, to see if I've developed any more exiting ailments!

monday

Hooray for the day off! I can sit around and not feel obligated to do anything. I haven't even gotten motivated enough to eat breakfast yet. But soon.

Sick update: mucus has been added to the equation. My nose isn't runny, but there you have it. I blew my nose earlier and I swear I felt it all the way to the back of my head. It was weird. Also, my ears keep feeling like they want to pop, but won't. My throat hurts less, but now it tickles.

ungghh

I felt a little tickle in my throat a couple days ago, and now it hurts to swallow. I hate being sick. We have 2 shows today, so there's no time for napping either. Sigh. In between shows we're having a grilled sandwich potluck. Everybody's bringing sandwich fixins' and little grills. I'm bringing that delicious crunchy cabbage salad.

Third trip to the eye doctor yesterday. She thinks the lens material may be what's wrong now, so they're making them again. Should get the new new new glasses in a week and a half. :(

wow

Fricking Saruman is running for Mayor in Kansas City.

That's Mark Funkhouser. (Or Christopher Lee in disguise.)

Sigh

The new new glasses aren't cutting it. I wore them for 2 full days before giving up and putting on my old ones. Now, I get to look forward to Dr. VanDerwhatsis telling me blah blah blah, it takes awhile to get used to blah blah blah. Sigh.

Today's going to be frickin' teriffic outside, which I get to celebrate by doing 2 plays in the dark. At least it isn't cold and dark. In the booth, it is so warm that we brought in a fan, to stir the hot air up. However onstage, there's a vent that's so cold that the stage crew was asking for black parkas last night.

May today's shows have no odd technical glitches. In the past few days, there have been a number of odd things happening. Nothing huge or showstopping, but still stuff that shouldn't have been a problem. I had to reset a node onstage that shouldn't ever need resetting. The Wireless Remote Focus Unit wasn't getting a signal, and the LCD houselight control panel developed a weird glitch. And so forth. So cross yor fingers for no more odd stuff.

Just fantastic

I went to the dentist today, and they tell me I have SEVEN cavities. I am pissed for 2 reasons. 1, I should floss more. 2, why the fuck is my old dentist so crappy? It can't be possible that I developed all these since the last time I got my teeth checked. Goddamn. Seriously.

In other news, looks like Studio 60 is a goner. It's not on the NBC website listing anymore, but you can still get to all the stuff if you use the search box. Goddammit again! No Heroes, no Studio 60. Graargh!!

no glasses yet. :(

I got my new glasses last week, and took them back today. The lenses were just wrong. It seemed like everything was tiny, or far away. So I made a re-appointment for this afternoon. They re-checked my eyes, and made me feel guilty the the lenses were wrong. Eye doctor lady told me that I shouldn't switch back and forth to the old pair, or I wouldn't get used to the new ones. Okay- I understand that, but the new ones made me feel slightly queasy and like my eyes wanted to cross. I sure as hell wasn't going to drive with them. Anyway, I should get the new new glasses in about a week. And it shouldn't cost me anything either.

I've been reorganizing the gel cabinet at the Lyric. I'm putting all the gel in hanging file folders. so far I've used 175 folders, and I have another 150 to use up before I run out. Office Max sells boxes of 25 for $6.99. Costco has 50 for $6.49. And the Costco ones work better because they're less bulky. Hooray for Costco! I'm going to be so pleased when the whole cabinet is all tidy.
