snackies

Studio 60 was good tonight! I always said it needed more Allison Janney, and it delivered. I also said it needed more guy-who-played-Toby, but you can't win 'em all.

One benefit of working at the downtown theater is the chance to mooch food. They have some kind of reception about once a week, sometimes more. And yes, they are catered. Usually, the people who the reception is for are going to see the play, so we can sneak in and get some tasty leftovers just before the show starts. Yesterday I snagged a stuffed mushroom, some veggies, and 2 different kinds of tasty cheese on toast, one pesto and one sun dried tomato. Today was even better, because they held a reception, and nobody came. The catering people (who are getting to be like our best friends) said they'd have to throw it all away, so we dug in. We had just enough time to get someone from backstage to come up and grab some plates to take down to the crew. I happily helped myself to spinach artichoke dip and chips, roasted vegetable crostini with goat cheese, and some damn good apple crumbly cake. It was a good night. :)

Nah, we don't need Rob Lowe or the guy who replaced him. Or Martin Sheen, or the guy who played Leo. (Clearly, that wouldn't work out. :))It just seemed to need more flavor or something. The first few episodes were just a little dull somehow, like the show needed more "sparkle." Maybe that's why it didn't catch on. I still don't really like the chick playing Harriet, and most of the supporting cast seems kind of iffy. Oh well, it's dead anyway, but I'm glad to see the remaining episodes. Nothing else is on in the summer. :P

I thought the first episode, maybe even the first few, were pretty good. I definitely think the Jabba the Goodman episodes were snoozville. And I haven't watched the episode yet, but I look forward to the Janney. (I was watching DS9.)
